Important Actions: Donations to the City Guard (1 ore, 1 grain, 1 wool)
The City Guard protects the citizens of a city from a variety of dangers. It acts on two levels.
1. Criminals such as Thieves and Arsonists pick those cities that have the weakest City Guard. Importantly, this should always be viewed in relation to the inhabitants. Naturally, bigger cities are more attractive. If the donation level of a certain city is higher in comparison to other cities, this city will be spared, and the criminals turn to weaker cities. In this case, a citizen who doesn’t support the City Guard at all can continue living in peace even if he/she doesn’t show much engagement for public welfare.
2. However, if the Thieves/Arsonists decide to go for a city, the City Guard will protect those citizens who have best supported it. In this case, citizens who are giving the City Guard little or no support at all suffer the most.

Support for the City Guard costs one ore, one grain, and one wool. If you have those resources, you should visit the Arsenal and click on the Guard. You will be asked if you want to support the City Guard. If your answer is affirmative, the corresponding resources will be charged to your Resources window. As in every house, you get a brief overview of the functions of the house by clicking on the Info Table. You leave the building through the door.
The City Guard also assumes responsibility in case of an imminent barbarian attack. Only a strong City Guard can fend off the barbarian attack, and supporting it should be a top priority.
