Important Actions: Buying Animals, Plants, and Other Goods


The Merchant offers you all kinds of interesting goods for coins (see Coin Trader). Click on him, and he will offer you his goods. You can leave the building through the door.

Pets

Every citizen of the Catan Online World can buy a pet. The price for a pet varies according to the popularity of each species in the city. Popular pets are therefore more expensive. Once purchased, the pet will follow you everywhere. It is displayed in the City View as well as in the games, where it shares the emotions of its owner. A pet must be fed once per week. The General Store also sells pet food; the food costs are different for each pet. A pet cannot die of starvation, but as long as it is not fed it is displayed in a deplorable state. Every pet has its own lifespan. If it is exceeded, it dies a natural death. The pet needs not be fed during vacation. 

Gardens

The Merchant is also offering many things you can embellish your property with. You can choose between trees, flowers, and other objects such as hedges or a park bench. Each plant or object has its individual life span.

 (The life span may vary about a few days.)

In order to embellish your garden, select the item “Garden” from the Merchant menu. In the window that opens up, you can see your property. Via the buttons above the display of your house, you can switch back and forth between the three groups (trees, flowers, miscellaneous). You can also scroll through the display using the Arrow buttons.

Your credit and the costs of the currently placed objects are shown on the left side. A total of 30 objects may be accommodated.

Use the mouse to select the desired object. If you now move the mouse cursor around within your property (marked by the line), the selected object is sticking to the cursor and can thus be placed on the desired spot.

Important: For technical reasons, trees and miscellaneous objects cannot be placed within the center strip of the property. This strip is displayed as shaded, as shown in the illustration on the right.

You can “Cancel” the process at any time, and all changes will be discarded. You accept the current changes by clicking on “Save,” while clicking on “Reset” restores the original status before the last saving.

The three cities with the most beautiful gardens receive a Garden Statue. This status is being checked every 4 hours. Gardeners with especially large gardens additionally receive the Flower Medal, which is awarded if a player has accommodated 25 or more objects in his/her garden.
